'Brunhild' a large terracotta jardinière.
Designed by Archibald Knox and made by Carter & Co, Poole for
Liberty & Co. Circa 1900. (Stamp inside rim).
The Brunhild was probably Knox's first design
for a terracotta jardinière and took its design inspirations
from the Braddon Cross at Kirk Braddon. Knox together with Mary
Seton Watts went on to design garden ornamentations culminating
in a gold medal awarded by the Royal Botanical Society and a
Royal Horticultural Society silver medal.
